4. Booking Services

Bookings may be made through the website, by email, by phone, through Wix Bookings, through an enquiry form, or by another agreed method.

A booking is not confirmed until:

  • The booking has been accepted by Ely Puppy and Dog Training; and

  • Any required payment or deposit has been received; and

  • Any required forms or information have been completed.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training reserves the right to decline or rearrange a booking where the service is not suitable for the dog, owner or situation.

5. Client Information and Accuracy

Clients must provide accurate and complete information about their dog before training begins.

This may include:

  • Dog’s age, breed and sex

  • Medical history

  • Behaviour history

  • Bite history

  • Reactivity or aggression concerns

  • Medication

  • Training history

  • Equipment used

  • Any known triggers

  • Any safety concerns

  • Veterinary involvement where relevant

Failure to disclose important information may affect the safety and success of training. Ely Puppy and Dog Training reserves the right to cancel, pause or amend services if important information has not been provided.

6. Behaviour Cases and Veterinary Advice

Behaviour support is designed to help owners understand and improve their dog’s behaviour through kind, practical training and management strategies.

Some behaviour concerns may be linked to pain, illness, anxiety, hormonal issues, medical conditions or other veterinary matters.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training may recommend that you seek veterinary advice before or during behaviour work. In some cases, training may not proceed until veterinary input has been obtained.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training does not diagnose medical conditions and is not a substitute for veterinary care.

7. Results and Owner Responsibility

Dog training requires consistency, practice and commitment from the owner.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training will provide professional guidance, practical exercises and support, but results cannot be guaranteed. Progress depends on many factors, including:

  • The dog’s age

  • Breed traits

  • Previous learning history

  • Health

  • Environment

  • Owner consistency

  • Frequency of practice

  • Severity of the behaviour

  • Household routines

  • Management between sessions

Clients are responsible for following advice, practising exercises safely and applying training plans consistently.

No guarantee is made that a dog will be fully “fixed”, cured or permanently changed after any single session, course or programme.

8. Safety During Sessions

Clients are responsible for the safety and control of their dog at all times unless otherwise agreed.

Dogs must be kept on lead when requested.

Clients must follow safety instructions given by the trainer. This may include:

  • Using suitable equipment

  • Keeping distance from triggers

  • Avoiding direct contact with other dogs or people

  • Using management strategies

  • Not allowing dogs to greet without permission

  • Following instructions in group settings

  • Respecting other dogs’ space

Ely Puppy and Dog Training reserves the right to end a session if safety instructions are not followed.

9. Dog Suitability

Not every service is suitable for every dog.

For example:

  • Reactive dogs may not be suitable for some group classes.

  • Nervous dogs may need 1-to-1 support before joining a group.

  • Dogs with a bite history may require extra safety measures.

  • Puppies may need age-appropriate training and vaccination considerations.

  • Dogs with health concerns may need veterinary clearance.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training reserves the right to recommend a different service if the chosen service is not appropriate.

This is done to protect the welfare and safety of all dogs, owners and trainers.

10. Group Classes, Courses and Workshops

Clients attending group classes, courses or workshops agree to:

  • Arrive on time

  • Keep their dog under control

  • Follow trainer instructions

  • Respect other dogs’ space

  • Avoid allowing dogs to meet without permission

  • Bring suitable rewards and equipment

  • Clean up after their dog

  • Inform the trainer of any new behaviour or health concerns

  • Avoid attending if their dog is unwell or contagious

If a dog is distressed, overwhelmed, disruptive, unsafe or unsuitable for a group setting, Ely Puppy and Dog Training may ask the client to move to 1-to-1 training or another suitable service.

This decision will be made in the best interests of the dog, other dogs and all people involved.

11. Social Walks

Social walks are structured, guided sessions designed to support calm walking, confidence and positive experiences around other dogs.

They are not free-play sessions.

Dogs should not be allowed to rush up to, harass or interact with other dogs unless specifically instructed by the trainer.

Clients must follow distance, handling and safety instructions at all times.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training may refuse attendance if a dog is unsuitable for the group or if safety may be compromised.

12. Assistance Dog Support

Ely Puppy and Dog Training may provide training support for assistance dog skills, foundations and real-life reliability.

However, support from Ely Puppy and Dog Training does not automatically certify, register or legally qualify a dog as an assistance dog.

Clients are responsible for understanding any legal, access, welfare or organisational requirements that apply to their individual circumstances.

13. Children and Young People

Children may attend sessions where appropriate, but they must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring children follow safety instructions.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training may adapt or stop an exercise if a child, dog or other person may be placed at risk.

Any children involved in training must be encouraged to interact with dogs kindly and safely.

14. Equipment

Clients may be asked to provide suitable equipment, such as:

  • Flat collar

  • Harness

  • Standard lead

  • Long line

  • Treat pouch

  • High-value food rewards

  • Toys

  • Muzzle, where appropriate and positively introduced

  • Mat or settle blanket

  • Poo bags

Ely Puppy and Dog Training may recommend equipment changes where current equipment is unsafe, unsuitable or likely to cause discomfort.

Clients remain responsible for checking that all equipment is correctly fitted and safe to use.

15. Health, Vaccinations and Illness

Dogs attending training should be in good general health and free from contagious illness.

Please do not attend sessions if your dog has symptoms such as:

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhoea

  • Coughing

  • Fever

  • Suspected kennel cough

  • Contagious skin conditions

  • Infectious disease

  • Any illness that may affect welfare or safety

For puppies and young dogs, vaccination status and safe socialisation requirements should be considered. Please seek veterinary advice if unsure.

Ely Puppy and Dog Training reserves the right to refuse attendance if there are concerns about illness, welfare or safety.

16. Payments

Prices will be clearly displayed or confirmed before booking.

Payment may be required in full or by deposit before the service begins.

Accepted payment methods may include online payment, bank transfer, card payment or other agreed methods.

Bookings are only confirmed once payment or deposit has been received.

If payment is not received by the agreed deadline, Ely Puppy and Dog Training may cancel or release the booking.

17. Cancellations by the Client

  • Conditions that may compromise dog welfare or safety

Ely Puppy and Dog Training will decide whether a session should proceed, be adapted or be rearranged.
